Construction Yard

The construction yard is the testing grounds for the king's personal Alchemist. The level is the most beautiful in the game. It is a huge rock basin that is filled with platforms suspended by giant and colorful fabric balloons. Hoses and pipes are going everywhere. It really feels like a place that has been built by humans. Just don't call it steam punk otherwise it will end up on Boingboing.

This area also contains the first real puzzle of the game. the FUR-TILE grounds are located on a floating platform in the middle of the basin. Unfortunately, the only way to get there is across a four wooden platforms. The platforms are so far apart that you can only get across them by aligning the beams that extend from each of them.

Goal: To get the one platform that has the really long boom to line up with the floating isle:

• Jump to platform A and turn it once 90 degrees counter clockwise.
• Jump to platform B and turn that 90 degress clockwise
• Jump to platform C and turn that 90 so that the long boom on platform (D) is pointing to the platform with the fertile grounds (there are balloons on it).
• Jump to platform B and turn that 180 degrees so that the long boom is pointed at platform A.
• Jump to platform A and turn that 90 clockwise. The long boom of platform D should now be pointing out away from all the other platforms.
• Jump to platform D and turn that platform 180 degrees so that the long boom is pointing at the finish

The Alchemist:

• Most of the Alchemist's context sensitive attacks are countered by hitting the "X" button so get ready to tap it frequently.
• Let the Alchemist make the opening move, block his attack, and then follow up with a combo.
• Perform this combo on him: press the Elika button (Y for xbox users) followed by the gauntlet toss (B) and then an Elika attack (Y) a sword hit (x) to send him up again. If you keep him away from the wall, you can repeat the Y then X combo over and over.
• Pretty much just keep reusing that toss combo, it got me through this whole game.

Now that the Alchemist has been expelled, the Princess explains that he was trying to set Ahriman free on the quest for immortality.

After defeating the Alchemist and restoring the land, the practical Prince suggests that they should use the flying contraptions to get around. Sternly, Elika says they should be destroyed because they were created for evil intentions. I can understand that the designers wouldn't want us to use these balloons to get around, platforming puzzles would be a non issue, but to see Elika take such anti-technology stance in a time when rebuilding her kingdom's infrastructure is so important. This just points to poor leadership. I hope she doesn't become queen.
