I think that Zodiac crap is completely unreasonable. My intention was to see how far I could make it without consulting any sort of guides. I did pretty well, before finally giving up on solving the medallion puzzle in Nabudis and the waterfall gig in Sochen. Anyways, I think it really sucks that they would deny such a great weapon to a player, because he opened the stupid chests that they put throuout the danged game. Who the hell would see a chest and not open it, in hopes that another unknown chest later in the game would hold some legendary weapon. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I enjoy figuring the stuff out on my own, and I was very disappointed to see that they would even program such a stupid puzzle. The Nabudis medallion thing is rediculous, as well, and for what? A stupid Esper. From what I've read, he is supposedly one of the best ones, but all the one's I have found, are completely useless and get murdered everytime I bring them out in a fight. I miss being able to control the Aeons, and I miss a good old fashioned puzzle like the Aeon Temples. However, I was reminded of that with the door puzzle in Draklor Lab. That was enjoyable. Encounter a puzzle. Get stumped. Figure it out. Move on with your game. Forget about talking to morons in some stupid town who rarely have anything useful to say, in hopes of finding some idiot who will give you a vague clue and you're supposed to piece it together that you have to travel to the other side of the globe to go talk to some other balogney-eating rat-belly-licker who's gonna give you another clue that you'll be lucky to figure out, until you spend a half-hour looking it up online...only to find that you still have about 30 steps to go until you unlock an area that will reward you with a cool looking monster that gets beaten like a rented mule each time he bows up to a boss. They should have spent more time making the bestiary anything other than a complete waste of time.
Other than that, I think the game is amazing. I love the scenery. The gambit system is genius, and the customization abilities for the development of the characters is nice. I like the fact that the battle system is real-time, but it's hard to strategize against the bosses, since you never have any idea what's working and what's not. It also doesn't help that they're usually immune to all of the good spells and status ailments, (when was the last time anyone even attempted to use gravity on a boss? Rarely, you'll get lucky and catch one with blind, or silence). You don't want to use the good spells on regular enemies, because by the time you hit them with any status ailments or dispelled their strengths, you could have just killed them and been done with them. I think that kinda takes a lot of the fun out of it. If I really wanted an action packed game, I would have opted for God of War II. I wanted this one because of FF X. Loved it. Gotta take the good with the bad, though. Story-line in this one is choppy, too.
