Dragon re-Quest
The boys from Redmond
needed a franchise that could turn Japan
into Microsoft country. And the best route there was with an XBOX-green tinged
version of Dragon Quest. The plan was perfect, wrangle the Final Fantasy/Dragon
Quest, triumvirate of Hironobu Sakaguchi, Akira Toriyama , and Nobuo Uematsu
into making an Xbox exclusive that would cater to the tastes of the nation that
had eluded Microsoft during the lifespan of the first XBOX. SakaToriMatsu (as I
call them) gave Microsoft Blue Dragon, a four DVD set of monster slaying,
bright colored JRPG manna. But chilly sales of the game proved that just buying
a game that looks, sounds and plays like the most popular game in Japan,
won’t make the people of Nippon buy it. With failure
across the Pacific behind them, Microsoft now preps Blue Dragon for an American
release with a downloadable demo. There are two areas available to play. So this
