GHOST RECON ADVANCED WARFIGHTER 2

(Aka GRAW 2)

By: Tom Clancy

Introduction

This game is called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Usually whenever I see a game that leads with the words “Tom” and or “Clancy” I continue past it knowing that it will be residing in the $8 bin in a few months. However this game is a bit different because it is abbreviated as GRAW. Maybe meaningless to you, but when I was in Jr. High I had the maddest crush a 13-year-old could muster on a cute blonde girl whose last name was Graw. I guess GRAW 2 would be her sister, who was equally nubile. I know a girl and a tactical war simulator have very little in common but, the name alone is enough to get me to spend the half hour it took to download it. So without further delay may I present to you: The GRAW TWO demo (single player version)

About this guide

This is a walkthrough for the publicly downloadable XBOX 360 game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. If you are interested in reading more walkthroughs for demos, go to www.gameintestine.com.

American Border Crossers

Sierra De Juarez: Rio Seco Carrera

A Hum-vee Drives up and the Mexico must be like England because we are driving from the right side. No, wait we are just passengers. The real driver stops to drop us off and says all sexy-like “Knock them dead captain.” Actually, I think that was just our mom dropping us off at our first day at school. Which is fitting considering the “Captain” has the same backpack I had when I started the fourth grade.

A man pops onscreen like he is the headline for the 6’oclock news. He tells us to get to work and then a bigger popup tells me about my UAV 3 drone.

When you gain control, you find yourself in typicall Chihuahuan (http://www.desertusa.com/du_chihua.html). My cousins live in El Paso which is just north of Juarez and they say they take tours down there for vacation. This will probably be the same way.

Turn around and head North Eastern path (your compass is along the bottom of the screen). Continue down the path until your army-supplied, futuristic Mexican detector picks up two of them and paints them with red diamonds. Hide behind the rock that is right there in the path.

Test out your new UAV drone (put the you tube thing in my website) by pressing up on the D-pad and your drone will come by. If you hold the right bumper button you will get the drone’s camera view. Position him further north to see where your targets are. Now, when you let go of the Right-bumper make your “captain” look up at the telephone wires. You should see your small drone floating there. If you don’t mind reloading the game I recommend shooting at and destroying the drone at least once because the explosion is very cool.

By the way, check out those huge power lines, is the power coming from Mexico because the terrorists should just blow them up and then America will be powerless. A lot of power goes across the border. I was recently on a hike in Southern Arizona and a bunch of those same sized towers stretched all the way down to Nogales. I took some pictures, see them at: www.gameintestine.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=180

If you didn’t destroy the drone attack the two guys guarding this mud wall. By all the protection it seems like a key strategic stronghold for Mexico’s invasion of the US. Clicking the right control stick to zoom in and when you get a good bead on them hold the left trigger to hold your breath. Fire when they are close together to save time.

When they are dead you can move left and find another camp filled with terrorists. However, they are optional, I proceed past them and they never followed me.

Old Grey Mare ain’t what she used to be

Proceed past where they were station and the “Taking Cover” tutorial starts. That means you are going to need to use it for this part. Instead of hiding out in this other mud hut, hide behind the boulder that is just to the left. Start shooting at the four guys hiding. If they are keeping well hidden, throw a smoke grenade and walk closer to the camp. You can tell they are all dead because “mission objective” flashes up on the screen.

Wait the 13 seconds for the mule to arrive. When it does, go to the back of it and pres Y to get a new sniper rifle. You can control the mule by pressing left on the directional pad and then hold the Right-Bumper to drive it. This MULE is about as useful as a real mule. You cant shoot with it and you cant run guys over with it which are two big strikes against it. I recommend just skipping the whole MULE driving thing and just continue along the trail.

Head SE up the small hill to the next grouping of enemies. They are actually down in the mine. Use your new MULE acquired counter-sniping gun which will “kick some serious but”. Start by knocking off the guys that are out in the open. The remaining guards will hide after you kill their amigos. And when they hide I start getting grumpy because this a fairly drawn out, slow battle. Run up to the small wall at the edge of the mine. Crouch with the left control stick and shoot at the remaining guys hiding behind walls. If enemies are hiding behind a thin enough wall they will have a red outline meaning you can shoot them through the wall. If they are behind too thick of cover you may want to wind around to the floor of the mine. “Objective Complete” will tell you that they are all dead. Return to the yellow square at the top of the hill in order to pick up some more comrades. One of them is named Joe Ramirez which is the GRAW team’s way of saying “even though we designed a game in which you lead an attack on Mexico and it’s soldiers indiscriminately, we are not racists”

Mortar Fire!

Head back down into the canyon using the path that leads south. The guy on camera yells MORTAR FIRE! Run straight SE for the cave to hide from the mortar fire. Hope you don’t get hit. Hearing the shreaking mortar fire and then explosion makes me fear ever having to go to war. If one of your guys goes down leave him. The demo is almost over. Shoot the two Mexicans that come to meet you on the way to camp. Hide behind the boxes under the overhang. Regroup your team using the down arrow.

When you find cover, point your team at the distant enemies with the down arrow on the D-pad. Shoot across the canyon to kill all of them. After removing them two helicopters come out. Just hang low because this is the beginning of the end of the demo.

And that concludes this demo. After playing this I think the real title should be

GRAW 2:

Watch out Canada, Mexico is just practice.
